Musicstars 2024/25
As part of our drive to increase the ensemble music-making opportunities for Wigginton pupils, all children who are learning to play an instrument – whether their lessons are within school or privately outside school time –are invited to be a part of Wigginton Musicstars sessions, on Wednesdays after school, once per half term.
The musicians will come along and learn a piece of music alongside the Singstars (which runs after school on a Wednesday until 4:15pm), with no advance preparation needed – I will choose arrange the music to suit who is taking part. Often this will be a well-known song that by the end of the session, the whole group can perform. On other occasions the sessions may be more experimental, where the whole group composes a piece together.
Ideally I would like ALL the pupils taking music lessons to come to these sessions. It will be a great chance to enhance and extend their skills and work together in a group. The sessions will be suitable for beginners and experienced players alike. Anyone in Year 4/5 is welcome to take part using the recorder skills they learned with me in music lessons, and any Year 6 may take part on viola/cello, as long as instruments are available. Any of the musicians who also take part in Singstars would bring and play their instruments for those Wednesdays.
The plan will be to record the group at the end of each session – for those where we have parental permission, some clips may be shared on the school X account to celebrate, and we will find a way of sharing the performances with families. On the final session of the year, families will be invited to come in and share some of the music they have learned, alongside the singstars.

After registering your child please assume they have a place at the club unless you hear otherwise from us. If your child is unable to attend any of the club dates please contact the school office prior to the affected date. Otherwise we will make a courtesy call home to check your child’s whereabouts.
