Keep up to date with all the news happening in school.
Following the positive Covid-19 case in school this week we would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the Covid-19 reporting process in school and the current Pupil Medication, Illness & Absence Procedures.
Pupil displaying symptoms or having a Positive Covid Test?
Should anyone receive news of a positive test result for a pupil, even if not currently attending school, please do contact school. During the school week, between 8.30am and 4pm please call the school office on 01904 552225. Outside of these times (including school holidays, evenings and weekends) please email here straight away: mrsboyle@wiggintonprimary.co.uk
This will enable us to identify anyone in school who is classed as a contact as soon as possible ensuring we continue to contain the spread of the virus. The school email address is monitored out of school hours. Please do not contact teachers directly with this information as we can not guarantee their emails will be monitored outside of school hours.
We will only contact you if we need to inform you of cases that will affect you – we will not inform parents if there are no contacts for any positive tests.
Also, if a pupil displays symptoms of Covid-19 we would be grateful if you could inform us at your earliest convenience. During the school week, between 8.30am and 4pm please call the school office on 01904 552225. Outside of these times (including school holidays, evenings and weekends) please email here straight away: mrsboyle@wiggintonprimary.co.uk
You will also need to book a Covid-19 PCR test as soon as possible. Here is the link to book a test: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
Lateral Flow Test or PCR Test?
Following government advice:
Pupil Medication, Illness & Absence Procedures
It will be vital for school that anyone displaying symptoms of Covid-19 is not in school. If in doubt, please do not send you child in.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school office if you need any further clarification.
We have been advised by a household that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 via a lateral flow test within the school. This pupil is in Class 5/6B and will be having a PCR test to confirm this this morning. This is an asymptomatic case.
Due to class arrangements this week, we have kept Year 5 pupils separate from Year 6 pupils within the class. Therefore, all Year 5 pupils from 5/6B need to self-isolate for 10 days from Monday, 28th June until 23:59pm Thursday 8th July. Year 6 pupils do not need to self isolate.
We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. A PDF copy of the email/ letter sent to affected families yesterday evening can be found here: https://www.wiggintonprimary.co.uk/year-56-classes/
The letter informs parents/ carers of the current situation and provides advice on how to support the children.
The Local Authority have launched their Inclusion Review Survey to ask children and young people with SEND, their families, carers, health and childcare professionals, for their views on proposals to change provision for young people with SEND in York.
They want to hear people’s views on the following key areas of provision:
· early years provision;
· provision for children and young people with SEND in mainstream schools;
· support for children and young people with Communication and Interaction Difficulties, including Autism;
· support for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs;
· provision at Applefields School.
The proposals recognise the need to ensure that the city has a wide range of provision to meet the varied and complex needs of our children and young people, within the budget available.
They want to hear the views of as many of our families and partners as possible to help shape future provision. I have attached two social media posts to help encourage as many people as possible to take part in the consultation.

The consultation is available online at www.york.gov.uk/SENDInclusionReview. Paper copies are also available on request from Explore and Gateway Libraries. The consultation will close on 30 June.
