New Starters in Reception Class September 2020

Useful guidance for families about getting children school ready for September from York Learning-Family Learning (CYC)

A message from the Early Years Team

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding your child's entry into school this September. Although we are unable to meet with the children face to face and have them visit our school classroom we have been busy thinking of ways that we can interact with the children.

We feel the best way to do this is through Tapestry, an easy-to-use and secure online learning journal. Once you have provided school with your Tapestry consent letter (which was included in the registration pack) we will set your child up with an account. We will then update tapestry regularly with information, such as your child's class teacher, stories, classroom tours and challenges for your child to see and interact with before they start school. We hope this will be a fun, and most importantly safe way for you and your child to be introduced to our school and staff.

Please remember to visit the school website regularly for any other information, you may also like to take a look at our school newsletters that are published every other week:

We hope you are all keeping safe and well, and we cannot wait to meet you all!

The Early Years Team

New Starters in Reception Class September 2020

It is with regret that, due to the current circumstances, we will not be able to go ahead with our transition meetings for our September starters as previously hoped. Therefore, all meetings planned in June & July have been cancelled. The Early Years class teachers are working hard to make alternative arrangements to help parents & children familiarise themselves with school and what to expect when the children start with us. We will update the relevant section of the school website with the information when this is finalised. Whilst this is not ideal we believe it is the safest way to plan for starting school in September.

In the meantime we would really appreciate it if parents/ carers could return the registration packs to school by Thursday 25th June. In order to do this safely we will be leaving a box in the school entrance foyer where you can leave the packs between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday. Please ensure the documents are in a named sealed envelope. We will need to see original birth certificate of each child, however we will ask to see those in September rather than asking you to leave them with us. Below is a reminder of the documents that need completing and returning.
